About Me: Gary Flack

Welcome! I’m Gary, the founder of SeeingMind. My journey into neuro-optometry began with a simple fascination: how we don’t just “see” with our eyes, but with our entire brain. As a qualified optometrist, I have spent my career exploring the intersection of clinical science and the personal experience of vision.

A Focus on Neuro-Optometry

My clinical passion lies in the “invisible” side of vision. I work extensively with patients navigating the complexities of Visual Snow Syndrome, the lingering visual effects of concussion, and the unique challenges of Visual Stress.

I understand that when your vision feels “off,” it impacts every facet of your life—from reading a book to walking through a busy shopping centre. My goal is to move beyond standard sight tests to understand how your brain processes light, colour, and movement, providing you with clarity and a path toward visual comfort.

Through the Lens: A Different Perspective

Outside of the clinic, you’ll often find me behind a camera. As a semi-professional sports photographer, I am driven by the challenge of capturing the perfect action shot—freezing a split-second of high-energy movement.

I also find inspiration in the quiet details of macro photography and the power of an “inspirational shot” that tells a story. This dual passion for photography and optometry gives me a unique appreciation for:

  • Precision: Noticing the smallest details that others might miss.
  • Perspective: Understanding how changing a focal point or a filter can completely alter how we perceive the world.
  • Light & Colour: Seeing firsthand how different wavelengths and intensities affect visual clarity and mood.

A Personal Approach in Doncaster

I believe that healthcare is most effective when it is accessible and relaxed. By focusing on home visits within the Doncaster area, I can meet you in your own environment. This allows us to discuss your visual needs without the pressure of a clinical waiting room, ensuring that every assessment is as thorough and comfortable as possible.

Whether you are looking for support with reading difficulties or recovering from a neurological event, I am here to help you see the world—and your potential—more clearly.
